Set within 480 green acres of beach and golf course and inviting swimming pools, the Fairmont Acapulco Princesshas been recognized as one of the top 500 hotels in the world and top 25 resorts in Latin America by Travel + Leisure magazine.

Designed in 1971 by William Rudolph and Leonides Guadarrama, the Acapulco Princess is a true classic when it comes to luxury resorts in Acapulco. Upon entering the hotel’s main lobby, guests will be struck by the hotel’s scale and the beauty of the breezy grounds.

Each Fairmont attempts to integrate aspects of the region within the hotel’s décor. In the Acapulco Princess, these touches are visible in the building´s shape as an Aztec Pyramid adorned with Aztec hieroglyphics. There is a typically Mexican mask at the entrance, and the lobby bar faces swaying palms around the hotel’s lagoon, where flamingos graze and swans float.

The hotel has passed through several owners over the years, including Howard Hughes who spent his last days in an entire floor of the hotel. The renowned Canadian brand Fairmont purchased the hotel in 1999.  In 2007, Global Investment acquired the hotel, but its operations continue to be managed by Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.

The hotel is located 20 minutes from downtown Acapulco. Situated in the Diamond Zone, it is close to the Acapulco International Airport, high-end shopping centers, nightclubs and restaurants.

The hotel’s installations include 3 buildings with a total of 1,017 guestrooms and suites, including the Princess Tower, the Aztec Pyramid, and La Perla, recently remodeled in 2010 with an investment of $50 million USD. The hotel’s exposition and convention spaces include 45,000 square feet of event spaces, recently remodeled to include the latest technology with an investment of $3 million USD. The hotel’s exposition hall has the capacity to hold events of up to 2,300 people with 26-foot tall ceilings and windows with breathtaking views of the ocean. This space has held a number of important events over the decades, including the National Bankers’ Convention, the Nextel Acapulco Fashion Show and events for the Abierto Mexicano de Tennis, one of the country’s most important tennis tournaments that has taken place in the Acapulco Princess for the last 10 years. Leading tennis professionals, inluding Venus Williams and David Ferrer, have been regulars at the event.

Apart from the Acapulco Princess’ exposition area, the hotel provides 3 major event halls that can be combined into one for a total capacity of 2,000 people. For smaller meetings, the hotel has a business center for 150 people, a plaza for 100 people, and 3 smaller meeting rooms for up to 7 people. For outdoor spaces, the hotel provides a poolside terrace that can hold events of 310 people, an excellent option for weddings, cocktails and banquets.

More than just a hotel, this luxury resort provides a variety of activities and spaces for families and executive travelers. The Turtle Dunes Country Club is an 18-hole golf course set among palm trees and lagoons. Designed by Ted Robinson, the Princess golf course is the centerpiece to the resort’s estate. In August of 2010, the Lorena Ochoa Academy began its operations in the Turtle Dunes Country Club, a golf school that adapts its teaching techniques to students´ physical characteristics, in order help to better your game and perfect your techniques.

Also on the facilities are 5 outdoor swimming pools, including a saltwater lagoon, 750 plant species, and the aforementioned tropical birds. The hotel’s Willow Stream Spa is a signature of all Fairmont hotels and resorts, winner of the 1st Annual Silver Sage Readers’ Choice Favorite as the best Resort & Hotel Spa in Mexico. The spa includes 6 massage rooms, 3 hydrotherapy cabins, 6 facial rooms, 2 couple suites, a sauna, Jacuzzi, steam room and relaxation areas, as well as a boutique where guests can purchase the Willow Stream products found exclusively in Fairmont hotels.

On the Aztec Pyramid’s first floor, guests will find a number of boutique shops with products made by Mexican designers and artists that can only be found in the Fairmont Acapulco Princess. Here you will also find an art gallery, a children’s play area called @Play, a turtle farm, as well as special green areas for pets.
