The North Shore extends from La Cruz up to Punta de Mita.
A new road in 2000 catalyzed a wave of development, with new projects featuring private coves and gorgeous beaches. All have great views. The faint silhouette of the Sierra Madre looms in the distance.
The area offers natural beauty, but not much else. To the south is La Cruz; to the north, Punta de Mita ... two modest towns.
Punta de Mita is an island of cinderblock inside a rich enclave.
La Cruz is a dusty town in flux. Along with a huge new marina, there are plans for a five-star harbor hotel and residential towers. The town will be unrecognizable in a few years ... for better or worse.
