Produced By Shauna Leff February 3, 2009 - 20:12
Sonia El-Nawal came to México a few years ago as the head chef at the Condesa DF. She then opened up the store Dumas Gourmet in Mexico City in Polanco with two other partners. You can find all sorts of pre-made gourmet food to go, fresh bread, an assortment of cheese, fine wine and delectable sweet treats! They have quite a nice coffee bar as well. The store is similar to something you may find in Napa Valley in California. Don't miss out on making a reservation for one of her nightly gourmet dinners by candlelight sitting around the kitchen up-close with Sonia. Space is limited and by reservation only.
Now that Sonia has been in México for a while, we asked for her favorite restaurant picks. These are her top four:
- El Sella Cantina in Col. Doctores in Mexico City. She recommends the porks feet!
- El Bajillo in Col. Polanco in Mexico City.
- Tori Tori sushi in Polanco, located half a block from Parque Lincoln.
- Manzanilla in Ensenada, Baja California. This restaurant is owned by her friend Benito Molina. She says it is excelent!
To make a reservation for one of her dinners, call 5280-1925 or stop by the store. They are located on Alejandro Dumas 125 (corner of President Masaryk. http://dumasgourmet.com
