Michoacán’s Convention Bureau is the commercial name who adopts the Management of Congress and Conventions of FIPROTUR Michoacan, A.C. It is an area, which specialized in Meetings Tourism, is the reason that this association with no profit in mind promotes the state for the attraction and attention of congress and conventions, fairs, expositions and incentive travels. The Michoacan’s Convetion Bureau opens its doors in September 2007.

  • Promotes the attraction and closure of national and internationals events: incentive groups, congress, conventions and expositions.
  • Gives consultancy and events services.
  • Act as a liaison between tourist offer and the convention offer of the state.
  • Takes action and act also as a liaison with government dependencies and private sector.
  • Supports established events of the government.
  • Supports the promotions of events.
  • Provides detail information of the offer services.
  • Provides promotional material of the state, like leaflets and videos.

Michoacan is located in the center of the Mexican Republic is one of the most privileged lands of the country, it counts with mountains, coniferous forests, lakes and lagoons, deserts, jungle, beaches, traditional  towns, archaeological sites, history and an interesting traditions. This variety of treasures is in the reach of the visitor because of the wide infrastructure of communications and tourist sites which the state counts.

It is located between Mexico City and Guadalajara, Jalisco, cities with important industrial and commercial centers for the national territory. Of any of the lately mentioned cities the distance to arrive to Morelia is only of three hours, through the Occident expressway.


Touristy, Michoacan is divided in seven regions: Morelia, Pátzcuaro, Uruapan, Zitácuaro, Zamora, Apatzingán y la Costa.

Counts with five World Heritage Sites, Morelia, Cultural Heritage; Monarch Butterfly Biosphere, Natural Heritage; Night of the Dead, Oral and Intangible Heritage; Pirekua, Cultural and Immaterial Heritage; and the Mexican Food, Human Immaterial Heritage. As well as four “Magical Towns”: Pátzcuaro, Tlalpujahua, Cuitzeo, y Santa Clara del cobre.



Infrastructure for Congress and Conventions:


It is important to emphasize that Morelia is the most important destination for this type of tourism.


Morelia is the city of the “Pink Quarry”, World Heritage Site because it’s Historical Downtown since 1991, which is perfect for all types of meetings. Counts with four touristy zones, which join 77 hotels with 3, 362 rooms, being used for the meeting tourism 2,462 hotel rooms in 48 hotels.


Likewise, counts with the Center of Conventions and Expositions of Morelia (CECONEXPO), which counts with an area of exposition near to 53,819.55 square feet and a bid meeting room of 12,916.69 square feet.


Morelia has the capacity to receive congress of 1,600 participants and the biggest strength is the national congress, due to the excellent location, only three hours of Mexico City and Guadalajara, and only two hours of Leon, Guanajuato. This is particularly significant in the cause of the organizers wants to cut on the expenses of flights.
