Deadline extended on cancellation of Mexican cell phone lines

Mexico's Communications and Transportation secretary Juan Molinar Horcasitas says that the government won't suspend service on unregistered cell phone numbers until it finishes processing the 82 million numbers that were registered.

The federal government passed a law in 2009 requiring registration of all cell phones in the Registro Nacional de Usuarios de Telefonía Móvil (Renaut), or National Registration of Mobile Phone Users.
